Tutorial for Decorating Jar Lids

Hi!  We are offering a tutorial for our crafters today.
An important thing to consider about your product is the way it is displayed.  The presentation of a handmade item should have
that extra special handmade touch, showing that your product is extra special.

Today we are going to show you how to cover ordinary jar lids with scrapbook paper.  This is an easy project, and definitely worth the effort.  It's one of those finishing touches that we crafters love!

Many people prefer to purchase jars for their samples.  However, I am a huge supporter of reusing, so I will show you a crafty way to dress up those jars from your pantry before you reuse them!

I decided to reuse a dip jar, and cleaned off the jar label.  Next, I traced the lid on the back of a sheet of scrapbook paper.  I used a pen for tracing, for the sake of visibility on this tutorial.  I would recommend that you use a pencil, because as you will see, my pen line shows through on the finished product.  I like this look, but you may prefer a cleaner look on yours.

I cut around the traced circle, about an inch away from the line.

Next, I cut slots all the way around, stopping at the traced line.

For my adhesive, I used a mixture of white glue and water.  It works great as a decoupage medium, and dries stiff and clear.

This is the messy part of the project, so I protected my work surface with wax paper.

I coated the unpatterned side of the paper with the glue and water mixture.

Then I set the lid in place, and began wrapping the sides up and over the edges of the lid.

I used my leftover scrapbook paper to print a label for my product from my computer.

Once the lid was wrapped in the paper, I added a coating of the glue mixture to the outside of the paper.  I allowed the lid to dry.

The lid is now crafty, and the matching label looks great.  I attached the label to the jar with the same glue and water mixture I used for the lid.  My next step would be to add a bow to the top of my jar lid.  So I found a fun patterned ribbon, a leopard print, and attached the bow on top.  (The product in my jar is a sugary soap scrub mixture, the perfect gift for a gardener!)
Thank you for reading this tutorial.

Great way to promote your online craft business!

Are you a crafter?
Do you sell on sites like Etsy and Artfire?
Would you like to drive extra traffic to your online craft shop (without advertising costs)?
We'd love to help!
Priceless Samples gathers samples of handmade items from crafters everywhere!  The items are combined in Priceless Sample Boxes, which we get into the hands of potential customers (people who love handmade goodies)!  We include information about our crafters (such as website information) and encourage our samplers to connect with the crafters who created the handmade items.  If they love the products, they may become loyal customers of your handmade business.  We also work extra hard to promote our crafters online through multiple sites (blogs, websites, Facebook, Twitter, Stumble Upon, Pinterest, etc.) to bring awareness to the general public of the wonderful handmade businesses we love!
"How can I participate?" you ask...
Send us at least 10 samples of your work (anything handmade, family friendly though).  There is no other cost to you!  Once we receive your samples, we get to work on promoting your handmade business!  Visit our website for more information, including a mailing address for your samples.  Also find information on there of how to contact us.
We'd love to hear from you soon!
